Does Office comes with iPad PRO 12.9" 2017? Is it compatible with the Mac and Windows versions?

Hello, I read that the smaller version of iPad PRO comes with MS Office pre-installed for free but the 12.9" does not. This is a bit strange. I cannot find such information on Apple's iPAD page. Could users of iPad PRO 12.9" 2017 please confirm? I have Office on my iPhone 6s+. I don't recall paying.

I use the Mac version of Office. I have no compatibility issues with other Windows users. How about the iPad PRO version of Office? Is it fully compatible with the Mac and Windows versions? Is it equally good?

Office does not come pre-installed on any Apple product. I do not believe there is an 'Office' app or has ever been one. There are individual microsoft apps, such as 'Word' that can be downloaded for free from the App Store.

Keynote, Pages, Numbers does come pre-installed on all iPads with 32GB of memory or more, so basically all new iPads.
If you get an older iPad, no worries. Apple has made Keynote, Pages and Numbers free for everyone.
Even if you get a windows / linux computer you can log into iCloud and use free online versions of the software.

I think I am right in thinking word, powerpoint and excel are now free but used to require a 365 subscription. They are compatible with pc and mac, have good dropbox and one-drive integration. For those that us word everyday, pages (unfortunately) is not an adequate alternative.

Microsoft Office requires an Office 365 subscription on anything with a screen size of 10.1" or more for full functionality.

This means the iPad Pro 12.9 and 10.5 both require a paid subscription to edit documents using the office products.

Pages isn't an option for a lot of people (including me) as it simply doesn't provide the functionality and compatibility required when working in an environment where Office is the standard

I don't know why I could get "Office" apps for free from my iPhone 6s+. I don't remember if they were pre-installed or I downloaded them myself. I have them installed on my iPhone but I never use them due to the small screen. It is a bit strange as there should be more people using such apps on a bigger screen iPad then on an iPhone. So, if MS is going to give out free subscription, they should allow iPad users free access as well.

By the way, are the iOS and Mac versions of Keynote fully compatible with each other?

I am a student, you do not get office for “free” unless your university offers it to students (my school does, but I already paid for MS Office 365 prior to going back to college.) The office 365 mobile is compatible with Mac and Windows versions.

All versions of Microsoft Office--Windows OS, Mac OS, iOS--are compatible with each other. However they do not all have the same functionality; some features present on the Windows version, for example, are not in the iOS and Mac versions. Be sure to consult comparisons between versions of MS Office on Microsoft's website to be sure you're getting the features you need.

Also, be aware that the Mac and iOS versions of Office do not have Access, the database program.
