does ram affect gaming performance??

i am getting a new MBP soon YAA!!!

but anyways i was wondering does it affect gaming performance to have 4gb vs 8gb of ram?

also which ram is better the stock ram from apple thats 8gb or a different ram company such as crucial? is there a performance difference? what other ram companies are good?

To an extent, yes.

Apple ram is rebranded crap sold at higher prices. I would recommend either OWC (MacSales) or Crucial RAM. Stay away from Kingston and the others.

That's weird you say he suppose to stay away from Kingston... I know lots of people who've told me it's the only RAM which can last for the longer time with no issues... Do you mean it's the same as other RAMs just that here you pay a bit more for the name?

And does RAM actually can increase FPS on games?

Crucial are reputed to be up there at the top for RAM.

I use Crucial and never ever had any issues.

Okay then I guess in that case, I will just get Crucial RAM, I'm planning to upgrade my iMac RAM too.

I'd bet that there isn't a game on sale today that will see a benefit to having 8GB vs 4GB RAM, especially in a system like the MacBook Pro. The limiting factor will be the GPU or CPU, not RAM.

Don't waste your money buying more RAM than you will ever need.

Most of what I've read indicates 4GB of RAM is enough to run games and more will not really benefit. I guess it could make a difference if you like to have a bunch of programs besides the game running at once.
