I'm actually curious to know if it reminds you of Calendar appointments as well... I would like a persistant notification for that.

For example, I have a recurring event in my calendar to remind me to give my dog her heartworm and flea protection every month on the 1st, at 5:00 pm. But if I'm not home at 5:00, I would like the notification to remain active, so that I see it every time I look at my phone. That way I won't forget when I'm actually home later.

The current notification system did not allow for anything even remotely close to that, and it drives me crazy. On my Android phone, I could just leave a calendar reminder alone, and it would leave an icon in the taskbar (which served as my reminder when I looked at the phone).

now that google tasks has an API, i assume someone will figure out a way

I hope so

I can't find any concrete information on whether it will or not.
As ericg301 has said, now there's an API I'm hopeful there will be a solution. It would be really annoying to have a great app that is basically unusble because it won't sync with my google calendar tasks.

Doesn't look like there is support out of the box at this point. Either through the standard GMail account setup or through Exchange. Reminders does support Exchange tasks, but Google doesn't expose their tasks through it. If Google did this, it'd be one way to do it.

The calendar notifications are better (you can leave them sitting in the lock screen or notification center)... although there is no indicator of how many are in the center right now.

Upcoming appointments in the next 24 hours also display now as well but there is no way to configure that timeframe.

No luck

I've been looking for awhile tonight and there doesn't seem to be a way to sync iOS reminders with any Google service. Has anybody found otherwise?

I think it's technically possible via Exchange, but Apple has to make it an option in the Gmail settings. Nothing yet. If I can sync my work tasks through Outlook through Exchange, I don't see any reason why we can't through Gmail.

But honestly, it doesn't do anything for me that I can't already do it GoTasks. Locations reminder sounds cool in theory, but it was causing significant battery drain. I could see myself using it for a very specific reminder, but for the most time, I like the flexibility of Google Tasks.

If you remove and re-add your Google account (as an Exchange account) in iOS the Reminders will show as one of the services available. But, there's no way I can see in Google mail or calendar to access those synced reminders.

Hi. In the last months there's some new ways to sync Reminders with Google Tasks.

Tasket (free): http://tasket.mobi/
It's a online service, not an app. It creates a Exchange account that syncs iCloud with Google tasks.

Pocket Lists (4,49€ it was free for a day some time ago)
An iOS app that works with iOS Reminders, Google Tasks and Toodledo. You can change a task from a list to another.
