I have seen the 20" and 24" imac in the apple store and they both seem so cool!!! The 24" is massive, while the 20" seems more adequate...

Any thoughts...lol

Thanks,

Jerry

If you can afford the 24" then get it. You'll be able to display 1080p video on that one. Also there well made inside, and have four speakers instead of two.

I love my 24" at home, great for movies and such, but i also go to work everyday on my 20" and its just as great. Though i really wouldnt sit back and watch movies on it. The more realestate the better imho.

I considered purchasing a 20" iMac to match the 20" ACD that I recently purchased to pair up with the imac but 3 things led me to the purchase of my 2 footer. The first thing for me was Firewire 800, I mainly use this machine for video editing work and Firewire 800 is a necessity for me. The second thing was Resolution/Size Having True HD resolution was another deciding factor since I'll be editing HD content and I would like to use the iMacs monitor to view full Screen HD While I use the 20" ACD for FCP and the size of the screen is wonderful for Photoshop and iPhoto. The last thing that took me over the top was the screen brightness which is excellent, now that I have it paired up with the 20" ACD I have the brightness tuned down about half way to mach the second screen and not destroy my eyes.

Well, when I had my old PC, I had a 21" widescreen that I thought was huge. Now with my 24" iMac, that same screen (now owned by a relative) looks TINY!

24" is worth it becuase its really high res. You get used to it though, and it fits in perfectly. Definitely get the 24" .

The 24" really is something else.
If you can get it, it's a real step up from all the other options.

1080p looks delicious on it. :)

i love the 24, personally i find the size perfect. it gives hd room to play, and impresses me every time i see one. also, as has been mentioned, the fw800, speakers, gpu, and the ability to spec it with a 750gb hd from the factory.

wiping drool from the track pad of my little g4 ibook..... oh the shame

dose the 24 inch screen really look that much better? to tell you the truth i think it is to BIG I dont have anywhere to put it its just HUGE that is why I am getting a 20 inch this summer (hopefuly after a new disign that will blow me away) and unless i also buy a new desk (I might have to do it anyway) but is the 20 inch not HD?

I've found you just need to get what you work best with. I owned a 24" iMac for about 6 months, coming from a 15" powerbook. Couldn't get used to it. I sold it, and bought a Black MacBook. I couldn't be happier.

Think about where you are going to put it and what you are going to do with it. Some applications really benefit from a large screen. Some do not. While the 17" seems tiny in the store, it is the perfect size on my desk. It is comfortable to sit in front of when I need it and out of the way when I don't. The 24" seems like sitting in the front row of a movie theater. There are other hardware considerations, but screen size is a personal matter.

It can fit the high definition resolution that people use generally now (720p) but 1080p will not fit.
I didn't actually think to compare 720p against 1080p though. :(
