I believe that's by design. With the full sized iPad keyboard, you have the ability to drag down on individual letters to get the numbers/symbols. Even if you turn off Key Flicks, slide doesn't work. And in the settings, slide in only mentioned for the floating keyboard.

Ah ok thanks. Wanted to confirm I don’t have botched software. Although I still think slide would be great on the full size keyboard.

Maybe on a 9.7 inch iPad or a 7.9 inch iPad. Anything bigger wouldn't really be usable.

I don’t see how not... If you hold it like the Statue of Liberty and use your index finger to type, it would be much quicker than tapping each key.
