Does system volume still affect text alert?

Currently on iOS 9.whatever (and apparently since like iOS4), if the system volume is turned down (not the ringer volume) the text alert tone is turned down too.

Drives me out of my mind. Did they finally fix it in iOS 10 or did all their effort go into that iMessages "like" button?

I have never experienced this behavior. I have the change with buttons toggle off.

agree with ZEENOj -in Setting - Sounds - try turning off the "Change with Buttons" toggle to off - should work for all the alerts - including text?

It sounds like it's more of a tie-in to (or being affected by) the Music app or perhaps another one that is using (or recently used) the system volume.

Did not know you had another thread - but to be honest - I have not noticed that problem in on iOS 9 and have only a few days on iOS10 - but it does not seem to affect my text alerts ( i use the default "Note") - could it be "to do" with the alert itself?
