I know they both have 60hz display but are they identical in all other regards? (Resolution, Clarity, Brightness etc) or does the 13 inch 2022 macbook pro have a higher quality display?
 
M2 is the 2nd image.
2017 MBPro is the first.

So the displays are essentially identical with the exception of 3 additional ppi on the M2 Macbook's display?
 
on paper, yes.
yet i think if you were to put them side by side you'd find the M2 is definitely superior in terms of clarity and of course 'true tone' (love it or hate it).
if you can, take your MBPro along to a reseller for the comparison in the flesh, so to speak
