Does the back to school promo mean the imacs won't be updated until September?

There's a chance the iMac will get upgrade. No clue if the promotion will change to suit it. I remember the Mac Pro was grandfathered in last year.
If I remember last summer the iMac's were updated and were excluded from the Back-to-School promo
i highly doubt it, after all the new mpb's are included, and if they wait that long it will be a full year since and update. i think we'll see them in a week!

I'd expect the iMacs to get updated at WWDC next week, with specs along he same lines as the MBP got today.

I hope so, either way I will buy an imac, but hopefully a faster one. I am just tired of hearing about the Mac Book Pro,bring on the imac news
Last year, the back-to-school promo specified particular part numbers for eligible macs, so that when the iMac was upgraded in September, the new model was not on the specified part number list and was not eligible for the promotion.
This year, however, there don't seem to be any part numbers for the Macs specified in the promotion; only for the iPods. Therefore I hopefully conclude that the iMac will be upgraded soon (WWDC Please-oh-please) and will remain eligible. That would make me a Very Happy Camper.

They will NOT be excluded.
The new back to school marketing materials are out (check your campuses if you are on one). They came out the same day as the Macbook Pro update and are outdated already. They only list the Macbook Pro in 2.16 and 2.33GHz models, but the new Macbook Pros ARE covered.
EDIT: The part numbers for Macs ARE listed on the paper rebate forms, but they ARE NOT listed on the online rebate form here.

I posted a similar thought in a different thread. I know theres been a lot of speculation about a new case design. If we see it, i think it will not be until after Sept 16. Apple did the same thing with the ipod nano last year. As soon as the deal ended, the 2nd gen models were out. I would be surprised if the we didnt see some hardware updates (im shooting for SR and a better videocard myself).
It seems Apple uses white for their base model and the aluminum for their high end model and i think it will stay that way.

This, coupled with the elimination of the 17" and Mini, seems to point to the iMac being made more of a professional AIO solution.

like it has been said. no part numbers on the online forms indicates that they will be expecting part numbers to change during the promotion. normally apple specifies which exact models are eligible. my vote: next week = new imacs.
