Does the
settings > general > accessibility > bold text
re-start method work for iDevices with no home button?

Seems easier than the various volume button method for a hard re-set.

Accessibility isn't under general it's has it's own category.... Under general "shut down" will turn off the device but not restart it..

Accessibility is under Settings > General on all iDevices running iOS8-12 and perhaps older.
The Bold Text option appears in settings > display as well.

Does not really matter where it is, what's important is that selecting 'Bold Text' when there calls for and executes a 'hard re-set' on iOS12 and older, just like holding the home and power button together.

My question is if this 'Bold Text' method works w/ all iDevices that have no home button thinking that it might vary with different iOS versions.

You never said which version on iOS so all I can tell you is on 14.4.2 your "bold text" method doesn't work.. Maybe you should edit the title of the thread to include iOS8-iOS12

Thank you, that would seem to be the answer - Apple must have changed the OS so that selecting Bold Text no longer requires a re-start.
