Hi all,

Does anyone have the Sapphire Radeon HD 4870 X2 working with Mac Pro1,1?

I'm currently running 10.7.2 on a;
MacPro1,1
Dual-Core Intel Xeon 3 GHz

I have the 4870 x2 on my gaming PC which just fried it's power supply. I was planning on upgrading my Macs video card anyway and was wondering if the 4870 x2 can be flashed to work on the Mac?

Thanks in advance for any help!

If it works at all it will only use 1 of the GPU's as OS X does not support internal or external Crossfire. Kind of a bummer but that's how these things are bridged. 1x4870 isn't bad though:)
Not sure about EFI/ROM needing to be flashed or not. Someone wiser of these things can probably point the way.

I kind of suspected that just by the general lack of mention of the 4870x2....

What would you say is the best upgrade for a Mac Pro1,1? The 4870? Or is there a better card out there now that can be made to work with the Mac Pro1,1?

IIRC 5770, 5870, 6870. Many PC cards work without flashing, albeit not showing the Apple boot screen. Search the forums for compatible models.
