Does the iPhone have a 300 recharge cycle battery?

Someone showed me a review today that shows the iPhone just can be charged 300 times. Is that true? I'm hoping to have iPhone 2.0 within a year but this just doesn't sound nice. I know the replacement is $85 and it's not user replaceable but that sure is a short battery life. I know with most battery technology they often last 2-3 years.

What is the best way to get maximum battery life? The guy that showed me the review just runs his battery down each time and often goes over 2 days between charges but I charge mine nightly and this is important to me since I want to be able to sync it daily. Most of all, is there any truth or this or estimates? I know maybe we'll only know in a year when we see how battery life is or how much it's shortened.

I've heard 300-400 (Gizmodo's review). But, supposedly the AppleCare (which will be $69 for an additional year) will include battery replacement, so... And yes, obviously no production model has gone through that many battery cycles yet so only time will tell how accurate that figure actually is...
 
There is anther thread going where someone posted text from an article about the battery life. Supossedly, the battery has a life span of 400+ charges, after 400 the battery would be at 80% life so there is still alot of time to use it. According to the article, the average iPhone battery should last several years.

I know my Ipod 30 Gig Photo still holds the full charge and it's three years old.
 
It's not 400-300 charges, it's cycles, there is a big difference. I'm not trying to get all technical, so to put it simply a cycle basically consist of a complete charge from dead(which is not advised) to full capacity. For instance if your battery was at 50% and you charged it to full capacity that would constitute half a cycle. If you repeated this pattern daily you would be doing a full cycle every 2 days. You can do the math but the battery is rated to last anywhere from 1-3 years depending on your usage before it starts to degrade.
 
There are several threads floating around that explain this better but it's that at 300-400 charges the battery begins to degrade, not that it dies. So where it was working at 100% it might go to 90% of it's potential. Honestly by the time you notice the difference you very well might be buying a new phone anyhow.
 
Don't they talk about how batteries last longer if you store them in the freezer? I think you guys should put your iPhone's in the freezer at night.:D
