iPhone 8/Plus Does the iPhone have EQ adjustments?

My other half has an iPhone and has just bought some Panasonic Bluetooth headphones. They sound terrible on his iPhone but fine on my Android after fiddling with the EQ settings.

But we can't find any EQ settings on his iPhone. Google isn't helping either (go to Settings > Music... but there's no "Music" option in settings).

He doesn't use iTunes, but listens via the Spotify app.

Any help appreciated!

There should be a Music setting in the main settings menu, scroll way down. Don't go into general settings. Just go to the settings app, and scroll down. It's there.

There really isn't. If we go into settings and then use the search bar at the top, nothing comes up.

Then something is definitely wrong. I just typed EQ into the search bar and it popped right up.

I would try rebooting the phone, and if that doesn't work, restoring it as a new phone, hassle that that is to do.

Should definitely have music settings, so if you don't, I think you need to set up the device again.

It's not on my partner's iPhone.

My understanding is that it's above "TV" (according to Google). But it's not. There's TV, Photos, Camera, Podcasts and Game Center. But nowhere on the list is "Music".

It doesn't for us. Like you say, there must be a problem, but restoring as a new phone just isn't an option!

This is the only EQ setting I’ve ever seen on iOS. Settings - Music - There should be an "EQ" setting below "Playback".

EQ settings in the Settings app only works for the Music app.

If you use Spotify you have to adjust the EQ there. It’s under playback in the settings (top right corner cog icon on Spotify home screen).


Btw if you delete the Music app, it’s settings are gone too.

I’ve been wondering about this. So there’s only eq settings for the music app. There’s no system eq setting.

Even your search results look wrong. "EQ" should not be found in all of those occurrences. Since that is the second indication that the settings are screwed up, I would suggest going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.

I'm going to guess that you don't have Apple Music installed on your phone?
My Music option is gone once I delete the app, but once redownloaded it appears again.

No there isn't a real EQ sliding bar. There is only the bogus EQ profiles which apple has had since the original iPhone/iPod touch days. Like "bass boost" "bass reducer" "vocal tone", etc. It basically does nothing for your music as you can't tell what it's adjusting. I much prefer at the very least getting a Bass and Treble slider where I can choose between -6 or +6.

While I understand decreasing bass typically increases treble, and vice versa, I don't really notice this with the iPhone's "EQ" profiles, hence why they are garbage.

I'm jailbroken either way though, so I have a real EQ in my control center.
