One thing that I've wondered since the phones were announced earlier this week is why they went with Max instead of Plus for the larger phone. The Plus phones are an established branding for them that would be instantly recognizable to buyers, so the shift only really makes sense if there is some long play with the naming conventions.

In light of that and discontinuing of the SE, what if the shift is because of plans to release a smaller version of the Xs down the road (perhaps next fall) where we get:

iPhone XI
iPhone XI Mini
iPhone XI Max

It would satisfy all segments of the market and make some sense out of the rationale for changing up the naming convention on the line.
