does the iWeb hit counter work with forwarded domains?

My mom's blog is actually at web.mac.com, but is forwarded to her own domain through GoDaddy. She writes for a big newspaper that's getting into more web content. Negotiations about her getting paid for having some type of connection between her blog and the paper's site. We need statistics about the number of hits she gets, but are suspicious that only the web.mac.com hits are being counted. Are the ones to her Godaddy domain being counted? And if not, is there any way to arrange this?
Oh, and we're willing to invest in a commercial counter...

Is her GoDaddy domain forwarding to her .mac homepage (or is in the other way around like your post implies)?

If it's the former, I would suspect that all hits are being counted properly (I can't think of a reason why they wouldn't be).

You can also check hit stats on the .mac homepage under the "My Pages" column.

sorry, you're right. I messed up the terminology

the only things in this column are the names of her pages the words "My Pages" link to a thing about HomePage. Anyway, she told me today that when she goes to her GoDaddy domain, then checks her hit counter (which, for for some odd reason, is only visible from the .mac address), the number doesn't change. On the .mac address, it does.

EDIT: she was apparently wrong, but she still says that she thinks she's getting more hits than the hit counter is saying. I thought that this may be due to the fact that the counter is on her home page, not her blog page. I aksed if she'd like me to put a hit counter on the blog page, but she says it'd look to "capitalistic" (ah, I love my parents). Is there any way I could have a hidden hit counter so that my family could maintain its liberal image?

I wonder if Google Analytics would work for you? I have a GoDaddy domain redirecting to a Comcast account and it appears to be registering everything correctly.

Hi! I am new to the forums, may I jump in here?

I am glad to read EricNau's response, as I have a godaddy domain and intend to forward to a .mac account website I create and publish with iWeb.

I was hoping, and thinking that it seems logical that the features available to me through a .mac site and iWeb are available with forwarding and masking from godaddy. This is correct, right?

Because it's just the .mac account anyway... just a question of how you get there.

Some of those features were:

hit counter
blog
hyperlinks, .mp3's and video
password protection

It all should work fine. Like you said, the site is still hosted through .Mac.
