So I called developer support the other day and asked them 2 very simple questions:

- How do you advertise or submit your app for consideration for the front page of iTunes or as a staff pick?

- How does the "New" list work as I've never been in it and I see people in it who clearly aren't the newest even for their category.

The dev program's answer? Go talk to iTunes admin. So I go talk to iTunes admin...what's the answer? Go talk to dev programs. I'm getting dizzy on the Apple merry go round. Anyone have an answer?

Well, #1, you don't 'advertise' to get those spots in the App store. Apple picks them based on quality. You can lobby outside Apple headquarters all day, but if they don't think your app is at that level, it won't be placed there. #2, well, the "New" list is a joke.

I read something in the past about Apple allowing some advertising in iTunes...not sure where I read it. Also there has to be some way other than dumb luck to get into the hopper for the staff to take a look at your app. As for number 2, I'd love to be in on that joke.
