I'm thinking about upgrading my Mac for Music Production. But I'm not sure if I should get a Mac Mini or Mac Studio. The Mac Studio would be the obvious choice, but I have read too many issues about Coil Whine. I have a home studio that is acoustically treated, so I can almost guarantee that I would notice the coil whine and I would not like it.

For the Mac Mini M2 Pro, I've read that it gets much hotter and fans blow more often. I'd like a system that is quiet and cool, if possible. I'm only going to be running one 34-inch ultra-wide screen. And possibly a small mini-display for my meters.

Mine stays cool to the touch all the time with zero fan noise even though the fan is running.
Do you ever run a heavy load for prolonged periods of time? If yes, what's your ambient temperature? If no, why did you get an M2 Pro instead of an M2?

I really don't. I use my M2 Pro as an office computer, Pages / Word, e mail, web browsing, 2D cad.

Which CPU and how much RAM do you have now?
I don't have a music computer at the moment. I just bought a Mac Studio from someone on Swappa, so we will see how that goes. I'm more scared that the coil whine will be a thing, but I hope not.

Do you ever do things like stream or have video applications running on it? I was planning to make music and record (for tutorials I make on YouTube). And I noticed that when recording on OBS on my previous computer, it would cause the fan to spin very loud.

Yea, you can find alot of bs on the web. The M2 Pro Mini is capable of fantastic performance without breaking a sweat. I haven't heard the fan throttle once.

The Studio isn't bad either. Let's hope yours doesn't "whine".
