I'm using a 2019 MacBook Pro 15" base model since the first week it was released.

To me it seems as if the keys have gotten stiffer?

It's not as nice to type on as I remember it.

I don't THINK it's in my head, but I understand that it could be.

Am I making a mistake or is this something that could happen?

Probably just your hand strength not being consistent. I'd expect things like keyboard keys with mechanisms in them to weaken over time, not get stiffer.

I wish keyboards can grow stiffer... actually it's the opposite most of the time - end up squishy ugly keyboard.

Are you sure you don't have a swollen battery? My 2013 MBP had a trackpad that became so stiff it was virtually impossible to press it effectively. Then I noticed that the battery was swollen. Replacing the battery restored the trackpad functionality. I'm assuming the swollen battery was compressing the trackpad making it difficult to press. Could the same thing be happening with your keyboard?

The keyboard is generally not on top of the battery (the trackpad certainly would be)

Although I prefer "stiffer" keys - I don't think you are making a mistake, as stiffer keys should help prevent making mistakes... :)
But, think about it... using a keyboard should, over time, result in less stiffness, not more, if that even happens. And, that would be to those keys that you use the most.
I think the keyboard is still the same, but, I would expect that if the keyboard response changes, it would not be keyboard-wide - only a few keys would feel different, such as the spacebar.
So, not in your head. It's in your fingers!

Could be. This crossed my mind but just felt odd. Maybe I'm just tired. I'll give a day or two and maybe it'll all feel good again
