Everyone in my family has always had problems loading YouTube videos on iOS devices. The mobile YouTube site has always been faster at loading videos, but still often stuttered on iOS devices. This is not a connection issue, all laptops in the house load YouTube videos just fine!

Anyways, I updated to iOS5 on my iPhone4 and compared load times for videos on the iPad2 running iOS4 and the iPhone4 running iOS5. In short, when I played the same youtube video on both devices, the iPad stutters while the iPhone /w iOS5 is flying.

So finally my question....Did iOS5 somehow increase performance on the mobile youtube site? Or is it just in my head? Want to know if I should update my iPad and lose the jailbreak.

iOS 5 has improved mobile load times across the board. Everything loads much faster in Safari. I haven't seen a single checkerboard pattern yet.

Youtube iPhone app still sucks, it rarely finds any video I'm looking for... yet if I go to youtube on safari I can pretty much always find what I was searching for  . Safari definitely runs faster though

Maybe it's the videos you're looking for, :p Seems SafeSearch is on on it, I tried once.

nope, like today saw a hilarious joke prank, went to send to friends and could not find it. Go to youtube on safari and find it no problem, same thing even for music vids etc. I've never liked the youtube app all these years
