The 2019 Mac Pro, does it support third party video cards like the AMD RX 5700 XT directly internally vs an eGPU option? Will I be able to see the bootup sequence?

Internally.

If the GPU correctly support GOP, yes. Some GPUs need firmware update, like the older RADEON VII that need use the current firmware for pre-boot configuration support.

How did you get the power cables for it working? I would like to combine my dedicated gaming PC (via bootcamp) and my iMac into one device. It will be a few months still - definitely after this pandemic. So there might be a newer AMD GPU than the 5700XT available.

Just my twopence thoughts:
When I first got my macpro (nearly ten years ago), whenever I needed an upgrade I could get an official Apple compatible UG from Apple which was 100% compatible with ‘zero’ problems.
One of the reasons I moved to Mac for reliability.

It was only many years later when such upgrades didn’t exist, I had to get alternatives (i.e. ssd/gpu).

When I get a 2019mp, I will most definitely get any upgrades from Apple to ensure complete compatibility and reliability, since such upgrades are available. I would feel getting ‘pc’ components would be asking for problems, as seem to be evident in other threads.

Anyway just my personal thoughts...... ;) ?

Hello. I just got a 2019 mac pro. I upgraded the graphic card with a RX5700 XT. And i have update issues. For each mac os catalina update i have a kernel panic.
I frist tried to upgrade without the rx5700 xt (i first have let both card with 580X) and the upgrade worked perfectly. Tonight i tried the new upgrade with only the rx5700 xt and i got a kernel panic.
Is it a normal behavior ? (never had a mac pro with other gpu before). Is there something i can do ?

Thanks for your help.
