Have an Air 2 and wondering wether to get a 10.5" pro. Nothing wrong really with Air 2 tbh it's a 128Gb as well so decent for the summer when away for movies and TV. It does everything want, general hi one use device.

Wondering if the 10.5" screen makes a big difference in TV/movie watching compared to a 9.7" ? I know it's a lot more power in the pro, but not sure need it yet.

Anyone have a 9.7" and a 10.5" compare it have comments after upgrading. Of course it will be better but how much a s worth the upgrade for the screen size alone?

Thanks

I have iPad 9.7 2017 compared with iPad 10.5 before. I never had 10.5 iPad Pro before, but I had compared two iPad at Apple Store before. I won't see there is massive difference on screen wise. It is just slightly bigger and the picture quality is signicantly better than 9.7 inch iPad 2017.

What is better, is the speaker. The iPad Pro has four speakers flanking on both side. The sound quality is significantly better than single side firing speaker with iPad Air 2 and iPad 9.7 2017. Though, I have my iPad connect with Bluetooth speaker which provides similar sound quality with iPad Pro.

I won't say the TV/moving watching experience is massively different between 10.5 and 9.7 inch iPad

I doubt the iPad Pro 10.5" will make that much difference, considering the cost of the unit if you're only buying it for the slightly bigger screen. You might consider...

https://www.costco.com/MoviePass-and-Fandor-12-Month-Subscription-eVoucher.product.100395930.html

Movie Pass at $90 for a yearly subscription. IF you maxed it out, you could see 365 movies in one year on a truly BIG SCREEN for about 25 cents a movie.

There are other ways to get Movie Pass besides Costco, but Costco has the lowest price.

Got enough TV, I'm in UK anyway, with Amazon prime video, Netflix can now download these for offline so plenty to watch!

I went from the Air 2 to the 10.5 and the I watch a good deal of video - the extra screen size is noticeable but not a massive difference. The 10.5 is brighter though (592 nits vs 410) and to my eyes the color on the Pro is better. For me, subjectively it all adds up to a better viewing experience and I find my self watching a lot more video content on the Pro than I did on the Air 2. I have absolutely zero regrets on doing the upgrade.

i have both a 9.7 ipad and a 12.9 Pro. IMO the difference is not that significant for movie/tv watching. Obviously for reading, surfing, and other “finer” tasks, the difference IS significant... but watching something like Star Wars on a 10” vs 13” not much of a difference.

Not a huge difference but the extra screen real estate is nice. One thing I’ll add is that the multitasking while watching YouTube, Hulu, Netflix, etc. is AWESOME. Being able to send texts, read articles all within a side bar on the right or left is one of the best things I’ve noticed about iOS 11.

we have a 9.7 pro and 10.5 pro.

very little difference for films etc.

slightly better for games though (boom beach, Clash of clans, etc)

You guys keep saying that he difference between the 9.7" iPad Pro and the 10.5" iPad Pro while watching movie is not a big difference but I would imagine is the extra screen estate in the 10.5" iPad Pro handy ?

From a general perspective, yes, the extra screen size is nice and an improvement over the Air 2 for me.

10.5 vs ipad air 2 videos on youtube shows a noticeable size difference, but still only a small difference. If you really care about screen real estate jump to the 12.9, but do take note that some individuals think the 12.9 is too large. Personally the 12.9 is the smallest ipad I could work with. The bigger the better. And yes, I use the 12.9 as a portable device. It’s the size of a legal notepad, a binder, a magazine.

10.5 pro vs 12.9 pro size

The difference is noticeable but the 12.9 Pro would be significantly better in terms of real estate if the only reason to upgrade is to watch videos.

There's not much of a difference in screen real estate at all. Actually, the difference is incredibly negligible and definitely NOT worth the $$$ just for the fraction of an inch in screen size to watch movies UNLESS you are also interested in all the Pro features like the Apple Pencil, four speakers, True Tone display, 4GBs of RAM, faster processor, etc.

Its diagonal dimension is .8” larger.

Definitely definitely buy a new iPad Pro.
