Can someone please confirm this ? I am discovering this more and more as I am playing with my device. Can I not open two split views with third party apps like for e.g. if both the apps are third part and not iOS Stock APPS ? like for e.g. If I want to have a Facebook Messenger APP on one side of the screen and eBay APP on the other side, I tried it is not giving me a split view, only if I have one iOS stock APP besides it gives me a split view !! is this how it works ? Can someone please confirm ?

It’s definitely not restricted to the stock apps. The apps in question however have to support it and there are many, like Tapatalk Pro for example, who couldn’t be bothered giving their app this functionality.

No, but the apps have to support it.

No. The developer just needs to support it for their app before it can work.

Surprising it is, that the same APP which is not offering split view is offering slide over !!

Some of my most used apps have not supported it until very recently. It has been very annoying. That said, I don't use split view all that much because of this.

Isn’t it going to be a requirement sometime soon? Like the move to 64 bit was a few years ago? I seem to remember something from WWDC about that but details are hazy.

While I would welcome this as a requirement it might offer some tough challenges to certain apps that just don’t scale well or at all, games come to mind as an example.

Split view will be required for every app that continues to push out updates. If I remember correctly, the deadline for is March. I could be wrong on the month but I know it’s required for apps that continue to update after a set time.
