Does the technology exist for a 'wireless' docking station?

OK, Apple laptops don't have docking stations, (with docking connectors, ala Dells) and that is a mild disappointment.

With all the talk of wireless, induction charging, it got me thinking:

Does the technology exist today where you could have a 'pad' that you could set your laptop on, and without plugging anything in, it would charge your battery via inductance, and also provide wireless connections via some proprietary wireless protocol for the USB devices plugged into the pad, and 'wireless displayport' or something (I know they have wireless HDMI so...)

I know BlueTooth would be laughably unable to perform this duty, but does any wireless technology exist, that could, over such a short range, provide the bandwidth and near zero latency required to pass full speed USB2/3 and 2560x1600+ video wirelessly?

Imaging the product: Purchase this docking pad, and all you do is set your Macbook Pro on it, and 'boom' you are connected to the external keyboard, mouse, monitor, USB storage and the laptop starts charging. Networking handled by Wireless N.

Possible? I know induction charging has a long way to go before it delivers the juice possible through a plug in wire.

It seems that to do this you could just have accessible "ports" on the bottom of your computer, that would complete the connection on contact with the pad. But you don't need that, we can already connect mice and keyboard etc. wirelessly. All you need to know is that your laptop wants to use them, which could be acheived much more cheaply with a simple option on your computer, aka press the button to connect with this mouse and keyboard and monitor, etc..

As for wireless recharing of the battery, which would be awesome, I've heard that the military is working on it. But until they have it, I don't think anyone else will so don't hold your breath. I don't know TOO much about wireless stuff, but I'm not sure it's even physically possible for any hardware in any age to do it. But we'll see.

There is an article on AppleInsider talks about an Apple patent filing for a versatile tablet docking station. I know this has to do with tablets and not notebook computers, but the technology is similar to what you're talking about.
