I was wondering if anyone knew about an App that had the ability to tune into local radio stations regardless of your location. For example, I live in California but would like to be able to listen to DC 101 (a Washington DC radio station).

Thanks!

AOL Radio lets you listen to local stations, unfortunately DC101 isn't owned by Time Warner so it isnt on the app. I havnt checked to see if its on 'Pandora' yet.

I doubt that would work unless there is an FM/AM transmitter in the iPhone/iPod Touch I hadn't heard about. I think you would need a transmitter of some kind to pick up radio signals. Though I'm probably wrong.

Transmitter? You mean receiver since the station is the transmitter? Also how would a FM receiver pickup a station 3000 miles away?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_0_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5C1 Safari/525.20)

DC101 is a Clear Channel station. They to not currently have an app for their stations. The area CBS stations like HFS2 are on AOL Radio though.

If you want it to listen to Elliot, you're out of luck at the moment. All 3 stations that play the show are Clear Channel owned. I can't see any other reason to want DC101, their music selection never changes ;)

Fish,

Listening to Elliot is really the only reason I want DC 101. Any other way to do this?

So far, no luck, I'll keep looking though. The online stream from the 3 stations from the websites don't work on Mobile Safari. Someone would probably have to set up some sort of pass-through that would work. Or Clear Channel can be nice and provide an app for their ~1200 stations, but they aren't the most generous bunch.
