Hey Guys Just a quickie

Does this setup look fast enough for medium intense video and photo editing and light gaming Minecraft etc.

2012 Mac Mini
2.5GHz I5
16GB 1600MHZ RAM
Samsung 840 SSD
One 27" full hd display and a 19" 1440x900

Thanks

Thats great, but i just got a laptop just like that but with an i7 and a 1TB HDD PLUS a NVIDIA GT640M for only $1000 so if you want something better for almost half the price then try looking at the Acer V3-771G :) if not then that is perfectly fine for what you mentioned

That laptop you mentioned looks great. I did consider a windows powered system as i new i could get better specs for the same price but i love mac just my own oppinion but i do have bootcamp which has Windows 7 ultimate x64 for my few games and other things like programming. I chose the mac because i knew i could upgrade it to 16GB ram and a SSD. Thanks good to know my computer can keep up with me

I can't speak of minecraft but for photo editing that setup is more then enough.

As for the Acer, of course there''s cheaper computers out there, but the OP is asking about a Mac Mini. The Acer doesn't run OSX and I think overall its (the mini) a great computer and well worth the price.

For photo editing what you specced out is fine. I would go with the i7 for video editing, the i5 would work fine but the i7 would handle exports/conversions faster.

If you still have to buy it, get the 840 pro. It is double as fast on write, which is very much used on video editing.

Yeah it does, but the i5 in the Mac Minis are dual core. If you're gonna max it out like that might as well spend the $100-200 to make it quad core. Don't buy the RAM from Apple, upgrade that yourself too. Otherwise sounds great :D

And to add to that, make sure it is 256GB and above. The 128s are a little 'slower'.

Minecraft will run on most things, which is the point. It can eat up memory sometimes though but you have way more than enough to deal with it.
