does this mean the Macbook's are getting a rev?

So i'm thinking about getting the new MBP -

but I was also thinking about upgrading my girlfriend's powerbook to one of the new Macbook's....

My question is - which this new rev. to the MBP's do you think one for the MB's is around the corner as well?

Course not-infact I personally think Apple will not upgrade the MacBooks so that they have something more to differenciate between the MacBooks and the MacBook Pros. I may be totally wrong however...you can never tell with Apple

I think they should do this, but they have to update them at some point I suppose.

They could go either way. They might just keep them as Core Duo's like the Mini's are. You will probably waiting till Thanksgiving if there are Macbook updates, I think.

Care to let us in on the "huge performance difference" between a 2.0ghz macbook and 2.0 ghz macbook pro (core duo)?? Outside of the obvious size difference, and performance in games and other 3D graphics intensive tasks, I personally cannot grasp the huge difference.

MacBooks will eventually be Core 2 Duo, but my guess is not untill MWSF at least - the MBP was a priority. When they do go to Core 2 Duo I suspect they will not use the fastest (2.16/2.33 GHz) chips either.

Anyway getting rid of the GMA 950 is more important to me (beating a dead horse, I know ).

I can only defer to my personal experience. I owned a macbook first, and my friends also own macbooks and I've used theirs as well. The performance is MUCH better. The way MBP handles applications is so much quicker than than the way my MB did. I don't know why it does so when the specs are so close to each other, but it just does. I think it has something to do with the dedicated GPU, but I don't know because I don't claim to be a computer expert, only a seasoned user.

I used a MBP in the store and it froze for 7 minutes when I tried to configure the wireless network, but when I did it on the black Macbook it was done in about 30 seconds.

Then again, the MBP was 1.83Ghz, 512MB RAM and the Macbook was 2Ghz, 1GB RAM.


I do think overall the MBP handles things a little better, but the thing is, most people don't have the time to go and play with both for awhile to see which one is better. You'd have to use each one for several minutes to notice a difference (a difference which isn't not mind-blowingly huge).

I think it's a case of the macbook pro is "$1000 better"... And nothing to do with any meaningful benchmarks of any sort.
