Got mine off eBay last fall for about $30. Worked perfectly. As the above user said, it's simply a software key. The guy I bought from was also a power seller with 99% feedback and probably 50 copies for sale.

Your joining his mobile me family plan, I guess there is nothing wrong with that, but thats how it works.

I just read the details of the ebay offering and I would not do this. I normally don't buy things on ebay so was not aware this was being offered. This guy is buying a family pack for say $92 (cost on Amazon for a FULL Family Pack). With a Family Pack you can create 5 users. 1 Master Account and 4 Sub-Accounts with less storage (5gb vs 20gb for the master). So he then sells the to 5 members for about $33 each. Nice profit. However, you could buy a single user account for $69 and not have to reply on him to maintain your account. However, if the difference is that important then maybe it is an option to go with.

In that case that was linked it was the family plan, but there are literally hundreds of MobileMe keys for sale that aren't family plans.

$30-$60 seems to be the going ebay rate. I did a "buy it now" for mine for $31.

I want MobileMe, but I'm a bit cautious with dropping $99. eBay has it for about a third of that, and with a power seller with 100% feedback.

What do you guys think? What's the downside? Is it like an outdated version (is that even possible)?

I renewed my Mobile Me single-user subscription on eBay for $59 a few months ago. It worked fine. Look for someone with high ratings (98%+) and at least a 100+ individual feedback responses.

Hi guys,

Being in Australia and with MobileMe due for renewal, is it possible to purchase from Amazon/eBay and the key will work? Or would I need to find an AU based key (if such thing exists?).

TIA. :):)

I had the same question and I now have another. MobileMe is a yearly subscription, so if I get it off of eBay can I get it off of eBay every time I renew? And if so can I keep all my settings (Email address and stuff)? I can get the family MM for $100.00 on eBay.

Just make sure you get your own key and you are not buying something that is part of someone else's family plan (like someone else on the forum) then you are good. Based on the cost above for the family plan and comparing that to Amazon I think you should be good.

Amazon is now $99.99 and ships from Amazon (not some third party) and has free shipping.

I got mine off of ebay from someone else's family plan and it has been working great. What my seller does is a few weeks before the end date he sends out a calendar subscription to show you when your plan will run out and gives you the option to renew your subscription through a direct link to their ebay store. The only draw backs of this method are finding a reputable seller and making do with 5 Gigs of storage for your iDisk instead of 20. The only thing I use my iDisk for is putting my school docs up on the cloud so I can access them anywhere which does not use anywhere near 5 gigs.

So when I renew next year, can I get it off of Amazon or eBay still?
