Want to do a fresh install to get rid of orphaned files, junk files, malware...

Question: If I use the "Restore From Time Machine Backup" option, will it also restore these unwanted files that build up over time and become a nuisance.

Or does the OS need to be installed first, then manually add back just what is wanted.

I would do a install without time Restoreng From Time Machine Backup and then Use Time Machine to restore the documents and apps and whatever else you want if you just install and then use migration assistant to restore your settings i did that and i had problems

and remember unlike windows you it does maintenance to clean up cashé and leftover files or if you really want to clean things up so a combo update meaning when you update normaly though the mac app store it updates the config files so if you have a bug it might still me in there thats called a delta upgrade same with iOS the OTA is delta if you want full install do the iOS update in iTunes like iOS,11,12,13 thats what i do
