Yeah, yeah .. I know.. it only take 22.5 mins to install Leopard off the Drop-In disc.. but you dont get a `drop in' sticker to put over the piccy of your Tiger-screened outer box. Know what I mean?. Resale value and that?. Aye!. Anyway - enough of my wittering on.I HAD to order me iMac24" (with custom wireless keyboard/mouse) before 30th October or dip out on the Student "Get A Free Nano" offer which expirerd then. For my studenty daughter. Anyway - so I rang up Apple Telesales-Online and the bloke assured me that any iMac ordered on or after 26th would be Leopard preinstalled.Lovely. Good timing!. So I ordered on the day. `Said it'd get to shipped early November. Then I get a later email on 2nd November saying due to demand - delays, man!.So in fact it shipped on 7th November. Now then - if youre sitting down - here's your question. Being the eternal optimist that I am - the fact its been delayed and is coming from the Czech Republic (according to the TeleDroid who I spoke to from AfterSales a week after ordering) does this have any real bearing on the likelihood of it NOT being an `off the shelfer' - IE: A Tiger/Drop in?. I really hope so. As this was the main reason for me ordering on the day of release and not waiting til 30th October deadline day. Also - luckily for us - UK law states that under the Sale Of Goods Act - one ruling is that an item must be `as described' - therefore if the guy says it will have Leopard preinstalled it must be so - otherwise its Breach Of Contract and not a `change of mind' on my part. In the UK - precustom orders have the same rights as standard orders - so restocking charges will not apply. Realistically I can see this NOT being a Leopard machine - so am ready to do the exchange thingy . but wont want a refund or Ill lose out on the £85 iPod rebate offer (I ordered a Classic iPod at the same time). Anyway - basically - do they all come from the same factory (China) but simply route in different directions?. Even those it seems- who have had hypercustom configuratioins (750gb drives. etc) had stilll received Tiger retail boxes and drop ins .. so logic is not really a factor here .. in fact - so much so - I expect any help to be wholly subjective .. oh dear. If anyone out there works for the Chinese Distribution Department - could you check under my name and have a peek inside the outer to see what I am getting?. Thanks! :)
