I was skeptical about my 3G working underground. My sprint phone doesn't work underground so I had reason. Lo and behold, I have three bars continually, albeit I had to dohickey around to get just the right position. I've found that portrait mode works the best, as the radio is facing skyward.

Anyone else surprised that their 3G is working underground or is it even working?

This depends on many factors. For example, some subway systems have underground transmitters. It can also be a function of placement of surface towers. That said, I lost 3G when my Amtrak went under Penn Station. But 3G in general works better than with a phone due to the larger antenna.

Why would you expect it to work underground? My 3G iPhone does NOT work underground or in elevators. Although I think AT&T sucks, I don't blame them for the underground issue. This is not the Matrix. This is real life. I can live without my i-products while I'm underground. I would hope that we all could.

He just said that his DOES work underground, and so does mine.
