Just got my apple tv and i love it... when it works  ! I have it set up to stream all my content from my mac pro via my wireless network created by my airport extreme 802.11n. Problem is, every coupla days the apple tv loses connection to my mac pro--the library name is shaded on the apple tv interface.

I have yet to find a proper solution to this problem... ive restarted both and ive disconnected and attemped to reconnect both machines, only to find that the atv does not show up in the device list.

does this happen to anyone else? is there a consistent solution to rectify this problem?

thanks in advance!

Has your :apple:TV been hacked with a patchstick?

Have you tried restoring the the OS on the :apple:TV?

Both of those are common sense troubleshooting steps.

Actually it happens to my aTV all the time. I have a D-Link router and it happens all the time. Quit often it just disappears from the iTunes menu.
Then I deactivate my wireless network, wait a few seconds and connect again, mostly it stays connected for a longer time after that. I have a feeling it's my router because often my iTouch won't connect with the router. Then I have to go into the settings of the touch and set the network again and then it works again. It might also be that I have two routers that I have installed for different purposes and the D-Link is just for my apples. Like I said, try deactivating and reactivating your wireless when it happens.

it actually has been hacked with a patchstick... i did try and restore the OS, but my impression restoring the OS was the "restore to factory settings" option on the atv... after doing this i was surprised to see alot of the 3rd party stuff still installed. am i doing something wrong?

I haven't used wireless... that might be your problem. If I remember correctly others have had issues with streaming via wireless. I have my system hard wired and I have yet to loose a streaming connection.

Mine worked well for about 8 months streaming over wireless.
Then it started to flake out all the time. I then fished the cable to the right spot and I never worry about lag again. Seems to have fixed any crashing that happened here and there too.
