I'm interested to know... I ordered my Air but hasn't arrive yet ;)
I'm very serious about this problem, so could anyone who got the new 13" model or play around in store can share please.

Some people in this forum have been experience this problem on a 11" would it be different to 13"?

Thanks guys

I've played with the new Airs at a few Apple stores and Fry's Electronics. The 13" seems to be fine but most of the 11" Airs had weak hinges. One push and the whole screen seems to flop right over.

Yeah my 13 inch Air's hinges are pretty solid only thing is when you lift up the screen tends to go back but other than that no complaints.

loose hinges

I knew there was a reason why I should wait a few more weeks. I don't want to have to return the darn thing because of loose hinges. Once the screen is in the right position it should stay there.

I want the 11" full spec. but I am in no hurry as I bought an iPad back in September as I needed something to travel with.

Just a thought, if the 11" screen is really 11.6" shouldn't it be rounded up to 12" rather than down to 11" when we talk about it? Or would that be too confusing with the old 12" that was discontinued yonks ago?

I've decided the 13" because of...

- SD card slot
- Screen resolution 1440 x 900
- More battery life (about 2 hours or more than the 11" model?)
- Faster CPU
- 256GB SSD

You can think about the 13" if you want a full spec... I reckon is worth the money. I love the 11" form factor, but I think a little bit small

Another thing is the 11" is 800MHz frontside bus, 13" is 1066MHz :)

The hinges on most 11's could be much tighter than they are. Some of the hinges in the store were very loose and sloppy, while some were tight (went to two diff stores).

The hinge on mine is in the middle as far as tightness goes. This is def an issue on these 11" machines.

Loose hinges on the 11"

Is this a widespread problem?
If I buy a BTO and it has loose hinges are they user adjustable or does it have to go back to Apple?
