So I have had a couple of 2020 iPad Pro 12.9's and both had this odd issue. IN the image I circled an area where they were on both tablets. A very faint white dot about the size of a dime. It is visible on an all-white screen. You have to really look close.

After doing some reading I know this was very common on iPads with the home button but I couldn't really find anything about the newer 12.9 ones. Apparently, on the home button iPads, it's caused by something behind the display pushing on the back of the LCD.

So, does anyone else notice this on their 12.9 Pro? Also, if it's very faint would it bother you and make you return it?

Thanks.

I’ve had both 12.9 IPPs (with/without home button and have never experienced what you’re describing.
Maybe show an actual photo without the circle and just describe location. The photo you are showing doesn’t show anything and seems to be a stock photo taken from Apple site?

Yes, it's a stock photo just to show the location where it would be. I wasn't able to catch it in a photo.

It’s dust under the screen.
my first 12.9 didn’t have any, my AppleCare replacements( 4 of them) all had dust

What you're seeing is more than likely just dust. Dust is more prominent in refurbished models.

While dust is very common on all kinds of devices this is different. It's the size of a dime and caused by something in the internals that is pressing against the back of the LCD.

Thanks but it is not dust. This is a pressure mark from something in the guts of the tablet pressing on the back of the screen.

No, my iPad has neither black arrows nor circles ... :p

Does it negatively impact your use of the device? If yes, then return it. If no, then stop worrying and use the iPad. Only you can make that decision.

Given that you posted it would seem you are somewhat concerned. As you stated you need to look close to see it, thus it sounds like it is not significant. However, if your real question is along the lines of, "will this get worse over time", then that is a legitimate concern, and I would go back to where you bought it and sort it out.

Good luck whatever you decide.

The White Dot issue, which I had on my Gen 3 Air, was much smaller and very defined. It was smaller than a pencil eraser in size. What you are seeing is most likely a different type of issue.

Is it more visible than a smudge? On a screen with a white background I see blotches when scrolling, but they are just screen smudges from finger prints.
