Is there a way that I can check in at home? I was hoping to run a webcam off of .mac.. I also have a webDVA server account at school (no FTP). This would be mainly so I can check in on my dog one day a week.

Any ideas? I downloaded QuickTime Broadcaster but haven't had any luck.

Thanks!

:)

I think you need some type of server to use Quicktime Broadcaster correctly. Try downloading the free "Darwin Streaming Server".

Good Luck, Kevin

What would be even better then a webcam page would be a way to dial into my iChat and activate the iSight... not sure if that is even possible.

Thanks for the "Darwin Streaming Server" suggestion, will check it out.

There is a terminal command that will make iChat automatically except video-chats.
I can't remember it off hand...
It was in MacWorld once.
I'll try to find it.

That would be cool.. going to look into it but, I doubt it will work for me, my away from home computer (a laptop ;)) doesn't have a cam so I don't think I can activate the one way video chat.

Cool! I will check that out, thanks :)

I feel like an over protective parent.

It's somewhat more limited, but you can use also this:

http://www.apple.com/quicktime/broadcaster/

It's free and it works with the workstation version of OS X. It has a Unicasting mode that works without needing QTSS. The major caveat is that you must know the IP address of the *recipient* computer in order to create the stream....

I was kind of thinking of doing this to check in on my kitty....
