I am interested in running multiple website, each with their own domain name. However they are small sites (all under 100MB of files) so I am wondering if I can run them all off one web-hosting package.

So www.ABC.com would point to a folder in the site called "abc" and www.DEF.com would point to a folder called "def", but when a user is visiting they only see the domain name, rather than the underlying structure.

So I am only paying 1 ~$9 a month hosting cost.

Can this be done as I have describe.

Yep. Look into GoDaddy or pretty much any other hosting company. Just make sure the package you gets lets you host more than 1 domain... which most do.

I do it with godaddy but you can't have their basic shared hosting, you need their deluxe plan which is $6.99 per month.

I have not had any problems with godaddy in the 3 years I have used them, well besides the fact when they say allow 24 hours for a reply, they mean it :D

Thanks for the info, now that I know what I was looking for I found it.

Now I am thinking of going with either

www.iweb.com or www.mediatemple.net, I'm leaning towards iweb (cost and function) anyone have experiances / recommendations?

My site is for...
1. My photography work (Portfolio)
2. Blog (wordpress) on photography related things, and travel (etc)
3. Webcomic (Small webcomic)
4. Short Poems and Stories

I'm only looking for a standard hosting package right now (nothing too fancy or anything)

So far I have gotten the domain name and put up a small park page while I code the main site (which I need to find hosting for). So far 40 views (mostly me though).

I came in on this thread late but it looks to me like what you might want is a reseller account. I personally use HTTPme for this kind of thing. But they are not cheap. Great company though.

(I have no affiliation with them other than I have a server with them and have used them for years)

The hosting packages now make it very easy. I have an account with HostGator that is under $10 that allows unlimited multiple domains. The simpilist way to host multiple domains for me is with the addon domain feature of CPanel--very flexible and easy to add and remove domains at will.

No, all these sites (or sub-sites) are owned and operated by me (or me & friends). I'm not looking to resell the hosting.

For what you want it for those two providers are expensive. Your not getting enough hits to justify the price. If lots of people start coming to your website e.g. 1000s of hits a day then you can upgrade your service plan to one like these

iweb is like $6-8 a month, is that too expensive? What kind of pricing should I be looking at?

AsmallOrange is $25/year for the cheapest package with 75MB storage/3GB bandwidth/month, and $50/year for the next cheapest (400MB storage/10GB bandwidth/month)which should be more than enough.

Thank you everyone for your input. I have made my choice and my site is up (yet still under some construction as I work on building it up), the start screen is currently wordpress with a random theme that looked ok, I will be changing the set-up soon to get it looking the way I want it too look. Starting with the Blog - wordpress was one-touch install.
