I have an iWeb site. I registered a domain name and got web hosting with iPower.com. I am having trouble setting up having my new domain name point to the iWeb page and have the new URL remain. I did a redirect that worked, but the URL changed to the .Mac address. Please help if you can. Thanks!

Ask apple if they can give you an IP Address for your .MAC account. Than go to your IPOWER.com Control Panel witch is whateverisyourwebsite.com/vdeck/ and click on the Domain Admin and then on Domain name manager. Also you can just redirect you ipower.com website to your .mac website.

What you need is masked forwarding
Don't know if your domain name forwarding service supports this, but I know that Yahoo! does. From their glossary:
Masking is an option that Yahoo! Small Business offers when you choose to forward your domain name. Forwarding your domain name means that when visitors click on a link or type a url into a browser, they are automatically directed to another site.
In standard forwarding, visitors will not see the original domain name they clicked or typed in the address box at the top of their browser when they reach the destination site. Rather, the destination domain will be displayed.
When you choose masked forwarding, the visitor will see the original domain name they clicked or typed in the address box at the top of their browser when they reach the destination. You may use this feature when you want to "mask" a web address that may not be user-friendly, such as http://www.angelfire.com/n3dqu/10_widget-designs/index.html. A Yahoo! ad will appear in the outer page frame when masking is used with the Yahoo! Domains plan.

I called Apple and the guy tried to ping to get the IP address of my iWeb page and no luck. The closest he could get was the IP address to http://www.mac.com (17.250.248.34) but no farther than that. I am looking into domain forwarding with iPower but their site is cryptic. The website says clearly that free domain fwding is free, but when I go into the admin for my domain, there is nothing. I work for a large internet company and even asked one of the code guys and he was stumped and couldn't find domain fwding capability with iPower. Next step is to call them tomorrow. And if that doesn't work, I guess I'll publish to a folder and do the FTP thing.

I got tired of trying to accomplish this using the .Mac hosted site, so I used Cyberduck to FTP to my web hosting via iPower and it's perfect!!! I just have 3 audio files to add and I'll post the link.
Congrats on success...I doubt .mac sites have static IPs anyway.
