Currently, the shipping estimate for a new base mini purchased direct from Amazon (not a marketplace or third-party seller) is 1 to 2 months (!).

However, it's not actually taking that long. I placed my order on the 22nd, and the next day, the 23rd, I got this email:

'Hello,

We have good news! We're able to get this part of your order to you faster than we originally promised:

"Apple Mac Mini MC815LL/A Desktop (NEWEST VERSION)"
Previous estimated arrival date: October 17 2011 - November 21 2011
New estimated arrival date: September 29 2011 - October 04 2011'

So, feel free to order from Amazon, as they are not really making people wait as long as it seems.

I was considering going with B&H Photo or Adorama Camera instead, since they would also be no tax and free shipping, but I prefer Amazon.

Amazon also told me at first it would take longer, but arrived less than 5 days from purchase date. ;)

You also have nothing to lose by ordering from Amazon, as they don't charge you until your order ships.

So, you can place the order, and if it ends up taking too long, you could always cancel without being charged (as long as you do so before it starts shipping).

I ordered mine around a month ago, when they had them in stock.
