The gorillamobile works great and quite sturdy. It's light weight and can be carried around unlike the iPad dock. :D If you want something sturdier/heavier then get the Gorillapod for PnS cams.

Looks good, I always liked those stands.

Is there enough clearance to use it in portrait mode, with the dock connector plugged in?

Which Joby Gorilla pod is this one? JOBY Gorillapod SLR?

The Gorillamobile is ok for landscape (pictured) and because the legs are skinnier the cable on the dock connector gets in the way in portrait. Gorillapod SLR has thicker legs means connector clearance is ok in portrait and sturdier for thicker cases. The Gorollamobile is sturdy and can be used with silicone/TPU case in landscape only. IMO

Great idea. We have a gorillapod in our lab. It's now being used for an iPad stand. I think I'll order another for the other iPad.

looks kinda wierd, but cool! how sturdy is it?

and wow - the ipad looks a lot more squarer then i imagined!

Surprisingly is quite sturdy using the gorillamobile in landscape as a stand. Just need to play with the legs a little to find the right angle and support.

I ordered a Focus model - pricey but I much prefer the larger size, weight for stability and the metal look...so just got to wait another 6 weeks for the iPad...
