Hey all.

I see that Rage is going to be ported to the Mac, but what about Doom 4? When I checked Wikipedia it said Doom 4 will be on PC (Windows), PS3, and Xbox 360, but didn't say anything for Mac.

I really hope there will be a Mac port.... Specially when Carmack showed off Tech 5 at WWDC 2007 on a 8 core Mac Pro..

EDIT:
Well, now seems like the Mac version of Rage wont be coming out anytime soon either.. I was reading Wikipedia article and checked Rages website and they said it will be out on the Mac (wikipedia), but (wikipedia/ragewebsite)"Rage is due out on September 13, 2011 and will be available on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC." It doesn't say that the Mac will be too.

I covered this at The Mac Gamer last year. In short, Bethseda said there were no plans.

Wow, that really sucks. I was scared of this, seeing that no Bethesda game has ever been made for another computer platform besides Windows and when I saw that Rage was "Games for Windows." Oh well. I hope they do a Mac port, same with Doom 4.

I remember seeing Jon Carmack at a WWDC a few years back demoing Rage running on a Mac. I am sure even if a native engine is not Mac supported someone will port the game engine if they can license a game using it. I doubt Rage will be a massive step harder than the latest unreal engine for example.

Doom 4 will more than likley be available for Mac. All of ID's Engines and Games have been available for Mac so why would they stop now?

They are now owned by Bethesda who historically have not done Mac ports. Also they have said they plan on keeping the Rage engine in house for Bethesda only titles. These bits of info might effect the chances of a Mac version.

Then again this is all guesswork on my side :)
