i have a ? for you dosa any one feel that apple has ruined the ipad with IOS 10 ? dont get me wrong but IOS 10 is going too feel grate on iphone but with IOS 10 being has it is on a ipad i think apple is going too ruined it i think IOS 9 is going too be the last grate IOS version that you ever have for a IOS tablet


i mean IOS 10 just feels more like its going too be for iphones then tablet this year

but that is just me i wounder how every one else feels about IOS 10 on there tablet dos it feel ruined too you or dos IOS feel grate too you

iOS 10 feels no worse on my iPad than iOS 9 did, small bugs aside. iOS 10 doesn't seem to be adding much to the iPad, but it certainly isn't detracting from what is already there. So no, I do not think that 10 has ruined the iPad. It is just getting a little less love than the iPad love-fest that iOS 9 was when it arrived.

To respond to the OP, yes I think iOS 10 is a major step back for the iPad. I installed the beta on my air 2 and it just feel like the pre iOS 7 era. Even the notification center on iOS 5 and 6 was better on the iPad than this.

On iOS 9 you see all you have to see in notification center, in 10 its just small bubbles with just the notifications. Too much space wasted. I can't imagine what's looks like on a 12,9 pro.

Control center is also way too big on the iPad

I think it is becoming more and more obvious that Apple needs to split iOS into two (padOS and phoneOS).

The iPad's larger screen requires that applications be designed for it. Apple is guilty of doing the same thing they mocked Android for. Blowing things up to fit on the iPad's screen.

A perfect example is the new widget Notification Center, which is one centered coloumn in portrait mode and two coloumns in horizontal. It really should be two coloumns in portrait mode as well. There is all this empty space on the sides.

Another interesting thing I thought about. When I initially put the beta on my iPad I played around with photos and the new facial recognition feature. Here it was clear that the user experience was hindered by the app being designed for the iPhone. Functions are buried inside of menus even though there is tons of room in the top and bottom menu bars.

The process of identifying and grouping friends and family member should be fun and intuitive on the iPad. There is no better device for that type of work, you can sit and relax on your sofa while flipping through and organizing your library. Yet the process is not fun on the iPad. In the facial recognition screen why can't you merge two of the same people by dragging the icons over one another? Instead of having to select both of them and then selecting merge.

There is a big missed opportunity because the iPad shares it's OS with the iPhone in my opinion.

Agreed, I had hoped it would develop into something other than a huge iPhone, so far nothing but disappointment. There isn't an awful lot of features separating the pro from a normal iPad it's really frustrating and the reason I'm looking to shift it and replace it with a Mac book instead.

I would be more inclined to agree if you said iOS 10 somewhat ignored the iPad, but I wouldn't say iOS 10 specifically "ruined the iPad". There aren't any functionality lost in iOS 10. There aren't any cosmetic degradation specific to the iPad in iOS 10.

thats not all ways the case with IOS with IOS 10 you have tone of new features this year year with IOS 10 on ipad you really get no new features

No... but I think they missed a huge opportunity to enhance it. They should have made split screen better, added drag and drop, did something more with the home screen. The iPad is much more capable then the iPhone... yet they seem like they could care less to take advantage of it.

Functionality wise, the iPad seems no worse off, but I agree that the new notification bubble design seems way out of place on an iPad. Perhaps this is something that will work better in real life after I have had some time to interact with it, but right now, it does seem like an eyesore to me.

I am also hoping that Apple simply intends to push ipad-specific updates in subsequent .1 updates, rather than ignore them altogether. I can see the logic of that. The iPhone is due in September, so it naturally deserves the most focus and attention in terms of software updates. If the iPad refresh is pushed to April, that gives Apple more time and resources to focus on creating new features, which also allows them to coincide with new hardware releases.

Time will tell, and I am keeping my fingers crossed every step of the way.

I think people forget that the full product isn't released yet. It's a beta, not all of the features, and of course there are bugs. Either use it and hold your complaints, or don't. You did install that beta on your own...Apple didn't force you.

Other than split screen safari, there's nothing significant - they didn't even change the multitasking switcher which has an awful, inconvenient design.
iOS 10 is not worth the slowdown it brings for most people I think. I only upgraded because I like the new aesthetic and I like that they've sorted out the notification center and spotlight - much cleaner.
Notification center does not need to take up the whole screen i've hated that since iOS 7 and feel the same about Siri as well. Control center also should combine both settings and audio panels since it doesn't make sense on iPad to separate them like on iPhone. It's also unnecessarily tall.

Yeah they're probably waiting on 3D Touch to bring new features to the iPad so they can reserve new software only features for updates after they implement 3D Touch, probably because they have a limited number of future iPad features to add.

I still have the same iOS on my iPad Mini 3 as it came with! Some of my apps don't work anymore like the Apple retail app but it is "super" fast and had have no problems. I think the version is 7.2!

I do keep up to date on the new iOSes and 10.0.3 beta is the current one and 9.3.3 is available with speed fixes! LOL! Wonder if it is any faster? Anyone know for curious sake?

More than just that has been known to change from beta to beta. It's not to say that it's a given or anything in particular is expected, but it's certainly far from being unheard of.

iOS 10 feels terrible on iPad, there is definitely a lack of optimization. I remember back with iOS 9 public beta, the performance was a bit of an upgrade over iOS 8, most iPads had good performance & iOS 9 generally became better than iOS 8 for the iPad. iPads didn't have great optimization with iOS 8, iOS 8 was only engineered perfectly for iPad Air 2, earlier iPads didn't run iOS 8 quite very good. After trying iOS 10 beta 1 & 2. I feel very disappointment that Apple is starting to optimize the OS for iPhone but iPad seems to have been left behind. Notification centre only takes advantage of half of the screen. Control centre has blank spaces on some iPads that don't get some of the new features, on all iPads buttons seem to look so big which makes me feel again like iOS has been taken from the iPhone with just being enlarged for the iPad. I have a 9.7 inch iPad, so I don't actually know if the 12.9 inch iPad Pro is getting iOS optimizations for the big screen or not, that iPad is huge, iOS 9 didn't give it any extra features, i don't know if iOS 10 is changing anything regarding optimization given to that specific iPad. iOS has a lot of cool features but speed is actually very important on devices like the iPad. iOS 10 is definitely not usable & not stable on my iPad, it's also very slow. I know it's a beta, but I actually tried my self iOS 9 betas & trust me the difference is huge. I didn't try beta 3 but I don't still quite think that upgrading is maybe a good idea right now. I see Apple is changing keyboard sounds and lock sounds which isn't actually important at all right now. To be honest, they are fixing some bugs but not really the major ones. There are actually major problems with iOS 10 & if they don't really focus on the core of that system, people might not want to upgrade. This time, Apple dropped support of 5 devices (A5 devices), they didn't drop any devices since iOS 8, so I guess the performance should be getting better because they can now focus on optimizing the OS for devices with more power, which might bring out better results.
