does double back tap work when locked?

looking to integrate google assistant

I got one of my taps to work while locked and the screen not black (reachability). The other wouldn’t (app switcher).

is there a certain spot to tap it? i'm tapping the back on the apple logo

It’s not very reliable for me. I turned it off. iPhone X.

Not that I am aware of. I have a SE 2020 with a Apple Smart Battery case and tapping back middle decisively works very time for me. Make sure the tap isn’t faint and soft. And most of all, make sure you have it enabled and have set up each of the double tap options.
