Everything is working fine, I just want to double check that I'm doing it the right way.
Mac Mini Server, 10.6.2
Static IP from ISP
Small office serving web, email, podcasts for public internet and the LAN.
AirPort Extreme is plugged into ISP and assigned the static IP
Mini has static private IP and ports are mapped.
PTR record with ISP pointing domain name (myoffice.com) to static IP.
Public DNS server out there on the tubes is pointing domain to static IP.
The mini is running a DNS server and the private static is mapped to the domain name (myoffice.com) so that when I do a "changeip -checkhostname" command it comes back with no errors (I had to do that for PodcastProducer otherwise it would error out). Is this correct? I mean, it's working in house and from outside, but is this the right way to do it? Should the mini be checking its hostname by something out on the internet? If so, how does that work with the router in the way?
Or is the way I have it setup the way it's supposed to be for this layout? Thanks in advance.
