I have late 2011 MBP with Yosemite OS. Lately (~2 weeks?), I've noticed that I have to log in twice!

The first time, the password appears as black dots and the screen appears to be logging in, but then it goes back to log in screen. Then when I type my password, the password appears as WHITE dots and the computer finally logs in.

Anyone has any idea what is causing this? Also, how do I avoid this double log in process?

I'm not sure. But the thing is, it never did that before but all of a sudden it started doing that

I'll check my FileVault.

I just checked. It is turned on and the password is the same.

Does that make any difference?

If it is the same password, you shouldn't have a double login.

Did you do a Time Machine or CCC restore recently?

Same password, no restore. Just started having to do the log-in twice for no apparent reason. Very strange.

Well, I've clean reinstalled Yosemite and that seem to have gotten rid of the problem.
