Has anyone who purchased The Avengers on iTunes, or using the digital copy from the bluray experienceing double subtitles on the appletv or ipad when the interrogation scene with black widow is on? All my subtitle options or off so I thought it was weird.

Same here. Tried itunes download version on both 1080 and 720 atv's and got the same problem. Quite a few people have posted this problem and I only hope they've been putting in tickets to notify apple that Disney needs to send them a fixed file. Or maybe it's the atv adding extra subtitles

I did and got the response of "were looking into it" and "we've refunded your account" which of course deletes it from my account which I didn't want! Just wanted a fixed version!

Shouldn't take but half a day to fix it and re-upload to the servers either!

I found a work around, however, it may not be for everyone.

Using the free program, Subler, I did the following -

1) Opened both the HD and SD version in Subler

2) Delete ALL the subtitle tracks in both the HD and SD files. (Note: I've tried deleting ONLY the English track, as that seems to be the one that iTunes is automatically pulling in, but when I did that, it actually automatically pulled in the Spanish track, so it seems deleting all is the only way)

3) Save

4) Delete the file from your iTunes library, (but obviously keep the files) then reload.

Wham bam. Thank you ma'am.

I had reported the problem, got a reply re-crediting my account (but deletes the movie from purchases) then got this email tonight just now from apple support. Don't know if it's user to user or everyone is getting an email. But it is customer service!

Dear iTunes Customer,
Thank you for downloading the movie The Avengers. Unfortunately, the movie you received may have had issues with the subtitles. We have corrected the problem and a new copy is available to download, free of charge. To receive the new version, please re-download the title from iTunes.

Before downloading the new version, remove the current version:
1) Open iTunes on your computer.
2) Click on your Movies library.
3) Click the movie to select it, and press the Delete key.
4) Click Delete Movie and then click Move to Trash.

To download the new version:
1) Sign into the iTunes Store.
2) Click Purchased on the right side in the iTunes Store under the QUICK LINKS section.
3) Click on Movies and select the movie you want to download.
4) Click the Cloud download icon to download the movie.

You will now have an updated version of the movie in your Movies Library.

nice about the rental credit. didnt even think about that aspect of it!

i got on itunes this morning and there was the new download waiting to go, however i dont see it in the purchased section of the cloud. im sending in a question now to see if is an overlooked bug that the system doesn't see bc it was refunded and not "purchased" again or intentional

I saw the same thing. I'm assuming it won't be in the cloud because it was refunded, and wasn't "repurchased".

I really lucked out with this.

I saw the problem and complained. The first iTunes guy who responded to me thought I wanted a refund and credited my account. I responded saying that I don't want a refund, I want the movie and I want the problem corrected. Another guy then messaged me, apologized for the first guy, and said that a new Avengers version that fixes the subtitles problem was in the works. And for my trouble, he gave me three free iTunes rentals.

When the new version was released, I thought I would have to buy it again, since the refund from the version I bought was still in my account. But when I tried to buy it again, I got a message saying, "this movie has already been purchased."

So I got a refund plus three free rentals. iTunes basically paid me to download the Avengers.

Got a free rental too. Does anyone know if the rental is SD or HD? Or both?

I rented the SD version...
