So I updated iOS from 5.1.1 to 6. I don't have a sim card in my phone so it's not able to activate or be used as an iPod.

I'm wanting to downgrade to 5.0.1 (I have SHSH blobs saved and the ISPW file) but I can't figure out how I can downgrade, since iTunes says that it's not activated and not showing any options.

iOS 5.0.1 has a hacktivate which is why I want to downgrade, since there's no hacktivate for iOS 6 yet. I'd like to start using my phone ASAP and don't have access to a SIM card.

Is it the iPhone4 in your signature ?
That would be nice to know.

I will guess it is.
Download the 5.1.1 IPSW from iPhone Wiki (why bother with 5.0.1 ?)
Plug into iTunes, navigate to the IPSW, let it restore
Jailbreak and Hactivate with Redsn0w

It is the iPhone 4. The issue is, I try to open the IPSW and iTunes just says this:

*sigh* So I tether jailbroke 6.0 thinking it would help, and now I have to enter pwned DFU mode, and I keep getting iTunes errors when trying to downgrade, or even just restore to 6.0, or anything, even with tinyumbrella server running.

At least DFU mode is closer than I was before :p Thanks for that!

Note I recommended DFU mode not pwnedDFU mode
PwnDFU mode is for custom IPSW's only.
It is not used to restore to stock

DFU didn't work which is why I tried pwned DFU. Neither work :p But I'm trying to redownload iOS 6 to restore to that and be unJBed, then 5.1.1 on tinyumbrella (or not if I don't need it)

Looks like I'm hopeless. Tried every possible combination of 5.0.1, 5.1.1, and current 6.0 download from iTunes. Tried DFU, pwned DFU, tinyumbrella, no tinyumbrella, nothing works, it all errors.

I'm praying there is hacktivate soon.

As apple is now no longer signing 5.1.1 downgrade from 6.0 is at the moment not possible.

You'll have to wait for an update of redsn0w for a hacktivate, which carrier is it locked to?
