Downgraded to Snow Leopard

Well, sort of. I installed Snow Leopard in one my HDs (mechanical WD Raptor at 10,000rpm). - I have Yosemite installed in a SSD.

I have to say, Snow Leopard is MUCH FASTER and more stable than this Yosemite they came up with. It boots faster (even not being in a SSD) and the softwares I use (Logic Pro and Final Cut) run faster as well.

My machine is a 6 core at 3.46GHz, mid 2010 5,1 version with 32GB RAM.

I'm staying with Snow Leopard for as long as I can -- what a great OS!

Has anyone here downgraded their Mac Pros as well? I had to chase down the gray DVDs version 10.6.4 to be able to install, the 10.6.3 that apple sells won't install in my machine. After 10.6.4 installs, upgrading to 10.6.8 is a snap.

Snow Leopard is the pinnacle of OS X. Anything else is a downgrade in terms of fluidity and stability in my opinion.

Mavericks is usable, though. On a 2014 retina Mac, SL is long gone so it's either Mavericks or Yosemite. I used both, and keep coming back to Mavericks as my battery lasts longer, there are no WiFi bugs, and the UI doesn't lag like hell after a few hours.

If somebody gives me a Mac with SL running, I would either immediately install Yosemite or through it in a window...

I would love to be able to install snow leopard on my mac at work, but I fear by the end of 2015 i'll be forced to upgrade, again, to Yosemite or 10.11 for xcode compatibility ��

Anything that has gone through a number of point upgrades is solid from Apple.

Snow Leopard, on the other hand, does face some security vulnerabilities as Apple has stopped patching it. There just aren't enough machines which cannot be upgraded further.

Why is that surprising? SL does a lot LESS as an OS than Yosemite so its bound to run faster on the same hardware...but you trade the features, compatibility and security support of the later OS's, no free lunch.
