Downgrading.. yeah i said it

plane and simple..WRONG!

from what iv gathered in teh past 34 hours of no sleep
my iphone has gone from completely ****ed to restored to 2.1 to upgrade to 2.2 and downloaded all the crap for 2.0downgrade but still cant find anything on downgrading, only usefull downgrade iv found so far was how to down grade 2.0 to 1.1.4 (which is where im trying to go since 2.x doesnt have any games for non apple registered users)

so right now i am at 2.2..i think
i used itunes to downgrade to 2.0
all went well, i had 2.0 no errors nothing
(got the iphone off ebay and it came with at&t unlocked simcard in it but canceled account so it activates the phone for me each time i install new firmware so i can check it in the settings right away to make sure if it worked or not)
so then i open up pwnage tool 2.0.1 as said by www.hackthatphone.com
i did everything according to how it says to and then i get "i haz failed" and cant figure out why.

after much reading it said not to have any other version of it on the computer or rename them so theres no confusion so i just deleted all the diferent versions i had and emptied the trash can.

and again i got i haz failed...

i really need this to work because i can not find a single thing on downgrading 2.2 to 1.1.4

only thing i found was the 2.0 to 1.1.4 using some files you gotta download for itunes for something i dont know i havent looked that far into it on the account that i havent even gotten to 2.0fw yet...

any help on this would be great my eyes are burning from computer screen madness so im going to bed lol
 
I went from 2.1 to 1.1.4 and immediately missed the features available with 2.x firmware. Took me about half hour to go back to 2.1 and jailbreak.

I'd really think about what you're doing and consider your reasoning before spending all the time it takes to get back. It took me hours on end to finally get back to 1.1.4 and no time at all to realize the mistake I had made.

This is a 1g iphone right?
 
1.1.4 has games

i do NOT have an itunes account to download the free games from the app store

there are no features in 2.x that 1.x doesnt that i would use

basically all im after is a cell with games... lots and lots of games

only decent games iv found for the 2.x is nes, sega, and gba which i have on my psp so thats useless for me

i quickpwned 2.2 just so i had a phone for today and it wont recognize my rogers simcard

Yeah, there pretty much aren't any games for 1.x anyway. Why can't you just get an iTunes account and download the free games in the AppStore?

Most of the Installer sources are gone too. 1.x is fully deprecated.

Restore and jailbreak again if you're having sim problems. Then download Appshare and Installous from Cydia. There you go free App Store games without an itunes account.
 
i am thinking of downgrading to 2.1 which worked perfectly - i updated to 2.2 and iphone eats the battery so fast and I have no wifi anymore - it can't find one when there is..

so I know your pain...I might do a full erase and restore one more time..then it's 2.1 time....

I'm just the opposite my battery life improved greatly since I updated to 2.2

Mine too. 2.2 is quite zippy and has stabilized safari. I had considered restoring throughout 2.0 and 2.1 due to slow downs and regular crashing. No longer!

I thought you CAN'T DOWNGRADE from 2.2 to 2.1 because of the baseband alterations in 2.2 which can't be altered ??

(unless maybe your using pwnage insted of quickpwn?)
 
battery life might be contected to my wifi problem - i cant locate wifi sites at all anymore..my battery would last throught the whole day now just last through the workday barely even if i dont use it...
i read an article about many people are having wifi issues and that a fix is in the works in the next firmware upgrade but not until then...

You can downgrade from 2.2 to 2.1, but you can't downgrade the baseband, even if you downgrade the software, the baseband version stays the same, but that's only valid for 3G users

Hm... I had the exact wifi issue, and restored several times on 2.1, with and without jailbreak, but in the end had to go to the apple store and get my iphone replaced
 
Only the 3G got a baseband update with 2.2. EDGE phones, the only phones that can run 1.x software, did not. Thus, downgrading shouldn't be a problem from 2.2 to 2.1.

I don't know about downgrading from 2.1 to 1.x though.
