I can tell you this, I would not want to get in line too quickly at the beginning of this attempt to fix Yosemite. There will be thousands of hot-dog Apple enthusiast who are all fired-up for this event. Might be better to read about all the troubled situations that ALWAYS occur when a new OS is released. Thus holding off for a while might be a good choice. I am still using mavericks and feel I have avoided that mess. If this El Capitan proves to be a smooth working OS I'm going for it. This is just my over cautious way of cutting down stress in life. Computing is great except when things don't work right. How long do you think it will take to download and install El Capitan tomorrow?
Not sure how much trouble will appear, likely there will be less than in some previous system releases. There are already "thousands of hot-dog Apple enthusiasts" who have been running El Cap for a month or more - and there seems to be a consensus that Apple has done good things about system performance. There are issues about SIP, and some others, but I think those will mostly just be those who always complain (maybe with good reason) about any major system shifts by the Apple "home office". Others (like me) don't seem to have any noticeable issues, and by and large, I think the El Capitan upgrade will be an easy choice for most....

There was an article not long ago about Apple changing the way they cache these big releases with a new CDN setup. I've noticed the last couple big installs downloaded at full speed even right at the time of release.I think that Apple is prepared for mass downloads by milion of users
