Resolved Download Lion from App store

Hi guys, I got this promo code so I can download Lion for free (I bought my MBP a bit before Lion came out).
Now I am using programs that I cannot afford not to work after the Lion install. I dont want to risk something not being compatible. Can I just download Lion without installing it? Or does that automaticly happen?

Also; can I download it, then install it on a different part of my HD and later move on to that part (update it with Time Machine) and delete my current OS?

Yes. When you purchase Lion, it downloads the 3.74gb installer to your Applications folder. You then have to manually run the installer and follow instructions.

Make sure you make a copy of Lion for backup purposes because once you install Lion, the installer disappears.

All u need is 8gb memory stick then get the .dmg open disk utility then drag the .dmg on the stick.
