i don't know about you but i need more information when i am dl'ing something than what safari gives me... but i'm not ready to pay $25 for speed download 2, which has more features than i need (my servers? uh...)

so what is a good, preferably free, download manager?

I use iGetter, it lets you use the application with a nagging timer at startup if it is not registered. It also goes for $25, but I think it is great.

Try deep vacuum on Versiontracker.

It's good for resumable downloads:)
i searched for those exact words,
"No products were found that match your search criteria. Please try again".
