Download of older OS X versions not possible anymore in Beta 1 of 10.12.6

Why Apple? Are you kidding me? It still worked in 10.12.5.

I hope this is just a bug. The left button with further informations does nothing else as the OK button.

If this is on purpose, this Mac is going back tomorrow... What I wanted to do anyway because of the WWDC rumors, but now I won't buy the new version anymore.

I know it might work on my 2011 MBP but this one is much faster in what I wanted to do with those installers.

You've never been able to download installers that aren't supported on a given Mac. That hasn't changed in the beta. The downloads are failing because your 2016 Mac can't run them. They would, however, work fine on your 2011 Mac which can run all of those old installers. The newest computer I have is a late 2014 retina MBP, which can run all the way back to 10.9.4. I can't download the 10.8.5 installer even though the Mac is still running 10.12.5.

It worked on the same MacBook with 10.12.4 and also on other new devices in the past.

Otherwise can also try to clean install 10.12.4 after I backed up everything. Or I'll use a second partition.

I'm pretty sure @chrfr is correct here and it has always been this way. I just tried to grab Yosemite and Mavericks on my 2016 MBP and get the same message. I'm on 10.12.5.

Yes, nothing new and different here. You can't download a macOS installer from the App Store that is not supported on the Mac that you are using.
App Store has always allowed downloading macOS installers that are supported, but not other versions that won't install natively on your Mac.
So, completely normal that your 2016 MBPro can't download El Capitan, or older macOS versions from the App Store, even if it is in your Purchased list.

That's strange, I think I was confusing something. Sorry.

It must have been still on my Early 2016 MacBook and I clicked on download for El Capitan, Yosemite and Mavericks.

Then I cancelled the El Capitan Download and the two others did not start yet because I also downloaded some Apps at the same time.

I cancelled everything then because my new MBP arrived and I wanted to create a Time Machine backup as soon as possible.

Also I might remember something wrong when I created bootable USB installers for Mavericks and Yosemite on my Late 2015 iMac in April 2016.

They must have already been in my Dropbox, downloaded before on my Late 2011 MBP.

The first Mac I purchased new was a 2013 Air and came with Mountaineers Lion preinstalled

I never downloaded anything older than Mavericks from the App Store on any Mac I ever owned. It was released shortly aftter I got the MBA.

The older Macs I purchased had Lion and Mountain Lion in Internet Recovery or came with Snow Leopard DVDs.

It seems I tried to download Mavericks never on one of my newer Macs that were all released after Yosemite.

As I said above, use mas. Some of these download restrictions apply only to the App Store app. mas gets around this. I can download Sierra on a 2008 MacBook, even though it isn’t supported.

There are "other ways" to get copies of older versions of the OS if Apple won't provide them for you.

In before others tell you that it's "not safe" to do so!

Yes, and the message tells you why. Mountain Lion is not supported on your rMBP, so the App Store doesn't allow you to download on a Mac that can't boot to that OS X version.
As was suggested earlier (Post #3), you should be able to download the Mountain Lion installer app from your 2015 rMBP, using the mas app.
Or, use an older Mac to download that DOES support Mountain Lion.

No need to label it "anecdotal". It's not anecdotal, but generally factual, as you can't download a macOS system from App Store which is not supported on that Mac.

Yeah, grab hold of an older Mac, download the releases without installing them, and create an archive (zip) of the installer.
Then keep them in a safe place.
